Origin and Concept

Story behind Origin of LIPA

After independence like other developing sectors and industries newspapers also faced numerous complicated and tough problems. As we all know that the aim to establish any newspaper is to work for the interest of mass. In India there are 1, 5,443 news papers are registered under RNI till March 2015-16.

Among these near about 84 thousand newspapers (vernaculars) are working on very small scale in remote area of country. They are called Regional media or small newspapers. Actually regional media is working very hard and honestly. Publishers of Regional Media are serving tirelessly, sacrificing their lives in unveiling the truth.  Even than they are not getting due respect and facilities, neither from government nor from the readers for whom they are working. This situation is suffocating for the regional media who is always ready to serve. But to cope with this situation there was no any other way.

Simultaneously, the biggest hurdle before Regional Media Publishers is finance. The only source of income for a newspaper is advertisements. But, private sector is not ready to give them advertisement due to less circulation and nor the government is helping them in this field. The parameters of getting empanelled in DAVP is such a complex process that publisher is bound to involve in illegal process or to play with circulation figures. This situation enhances the fake circulation of newspapers.

Government is also concerned on this “Claimed Circulation”.  Resulting this, government has applied a new advt. policy in 2016 in DAVP. As an association we support some clause of this policy and objects on some points, on which LIPA has raised it’s concerned in PMO and MIB. But at large we believe that this advertisement policy will clean those newspapers those are running with fake circulation.  And also have faith that this will give a new life to the regional newspapers that are running genuinely.

There is one more point is to be noticed that regional media itself needs to introspect. Many times regional media publisher don’t get respect in his own community because of rank and file based on circulation of criteria. Regional media Publisher has to faces all the slur and obstruction alone because they are working in different units. They are at ease while talking of public or people’s problems, but they do get uneasy when they have to raise their own issues. But there is no appropriate platform to raise their voice.

These are some reasons behind the birth of Lead India Publishers Association (LIPA) in 2010. LIPA took an initiative to fight for the Respect, Social & financial security of Regional media.  LIPA decided its vision and work to support this mission. LIPA is helping to make regional media self reliant without getting dependent on DAVP through its mission website and other work.

Origin of ‘Lead India Publishers Association’ (LIPA)

We believe till regional media is struggling and not getting its due respect it will exhaust its energy and will be helpless to raise the public voice.

That’s why ‘Lead India Publishers Association’ (LIPA) has been instituted to bring them together over a single platform. It’s a non-government organization with the vision of uniting regional media publishers on one platform.

‘Lead India Publishers Association’ (LIPA) is a visionary effort of “Lead India Group”. Lead India Group was researching on this subject for the long time. After complete study and research, Mr. Subhash Singh, chairman and editor in chief of Lead India Group discussed this matter with honorable Dr. APJ Kalam. After long discussion LIPA came to an existence to do this task. Dr. Kalam suggested the name Lead India Publishers Association and sworn Lead India Team to work on decided vision and mission for this the welfare of Regional media.

The Concept of LIPA:

The concept of LIPA is to solve the problems of publishers and to help them to grow. LIPA wishes to bring all the regional media publishers together who are working as multiple units.
